| My first priority is for the State to develop a taxation program that funds the replacement or repair of our failing infrastructure, in particular, State numbered and lettered highways that are decades past needing repair or replacement. The bridges in our rural areas, many of which were built under the WPA in the 1930's are beyond repair and are vital to the rural communities to maintain fire and ambulance protection to those citizens living there. My second would be to use state funding to support Pregnancy Resource Centers to help pregnant women carry a child to full term and then create a more affordable and sensible solution to adoption. Currently, the cost of adoption has become almost unattainable for many couples needing to adopt. There likely needs to be tort reform that limits the cost to the adopting family and would utilize funds that would otherwise be paid to abortion clinics, I am adamantly opposed to taxpayer dollars being handed over to abortion providers. My third priority would be to push through legislation that would limit the reach of credit unions and create a more level playing field for the local banks who have served our state for decades. The current restrictions on banks versus the credit union industry is giving credit unions too much of an advantage in the lending business. |
